DEREK BARKEY

Derek Barkey is an engineering consultant in Southern California, but he started his career in STEM on the math team of Wentzville High School in Missouri. He has engineering degrees from MIT and USC and an MBA from UC-Irvine. He's now Director of Engineering for Innova Engineering, an engineering consultancy that specializes in innovative solutions to customer's product challenges in design and manufacturing. His customers represent a variety of industries, including biomedical, automotive, aerospace, and defense. He has been a volunteer for MIT's Admissions Office more more than thirty years. He has a private pilot's license and in his free time he enjoys walking his two rescued Siberian Huskies, traveling with his wife, reading, and hiking and skiing in the deserts and mountains of California.
