Enlightening Bright Minds

MATH CHAUTAUQUA

This course provides unusual and rich opportunities for Dojo members to develop leadership as well as other skills. The main purpose for this class is to provide a gathering place for exceptionally talented math students. Students are encouraged to exchange ideas with classmates on how to be well-informed leaders and good instructors. Well qualified members are recruited to become MathDojo instructors. They can present research papers to solicit improvements on many topics of their choice. Topics can cover outside of mathematics such as Music, Art, and Literature in order to attain intellectual balance. Students are encouraged to
read books by Ian Stewart, Clifford Pickover, etc and the top 10 math books to read (http://math-blog.com/ten-must-read-books-about- mathematics/).
Students can also study and share recreational maths by Martin Gardner, Henry Dudeney, Sam Loyd, and Theoni Pappus. The chautauqua also deals with Number Theory, Cryptography, Codes, and Quantitative Literacy.
