ABOUT MARGO
Margo has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Secondary Education, and a Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in gifted education from Lindenwood University, as well as a National Board Certified Teacher. Margo began teaching high school mathematics at age nineteen, and continued for thirty-five years. Her teaching career spanned parochial and public secondary schools, as well as eight years at university. Margo is also a small business owner who cares greatly for her community.
Throughout her career, Margo has devoted time to developing lectures and workshops covering mathematics and gifted education, including discovery learning, bibliotherapy, cooperative learning, curriculum compacting, and interdisciplinary learning with art, music and math. Margo also helped develop and run a mentorship program, for six years, placing students with local business owners, doctors and teachers in the community. She has also tutored extensively.
Furthering her passion for building a strong classroom education, Margo received several grants throughout her career, including her favorites for ‘Mozart: Musical Intelligence,’ “Escher, Art and Math,’ Discovery Learning: the only way to learn geometry!’
Margo loved everyday in the classroom, and her passion to help others see the beauty of mathematics has been her lifetime goal. She believes teaching is important because one has the opportunity to share the passion of one’s subject, help the misunderstood, such as the learning disabled or at-risk gifted students, by caring about their needs, and prepare students with the understanding of their future by seeking out their full potential.
